The Kunsthalle Mainz (Mainz Art Gallery) in Mainz Zollhafen (the city’s erstwhile bonded harbour) is a venue for rotating exhibitions of contemporary art. It took up its activities in March 2008 with its first exhibition. Artistic positions from the contemporary art scene are shown in individual presentations, thematic group exhibitions and location-specific displays. An extensive information programme for adults and children accompanies each exhibition. Additional events, such as lectures or work discussions with artists deepen the encounter between the public and the artists, thus making an intensive discussion possible.
